چکیده

The microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis is used for the biotechnological production of astaxanthin. red carotenoid accumulates in cytoplasm under unfavorable conditions. Astaxanthin synthesis associated with transformation motile vegetative cells into non-motile cyst cells. In industrial process, after harvesting, are mechanically disrupted, dried, and finally, astaxanthin extracted supercritical CO2. germination represents an interesting alternative, replacing mechanical cell wall disruption. When exposed to favorable growth conditions, occurs zoospores released a certain time. These show much weaker matrix compared this study, phototrophic, mixotrophic, heterotrophic conditions was examined. Glucose as carbon source mixotrophic germination. Applying up 80% were zoospore stage 49 h start germination, extraction yields 50% achieved using solvent ethyl acetate from algal broth containing zoospores. An yield 64% could be by doubling nitrate concentration combining cultivation.

Repeated cultivation: non-cell disruption extraction of astaxanthin for Haematococcus pluvialis

The operation of cell disruption is indispensable but cost much in microalgae industry. To be simplified, two different reaction mechanisms await in the cell to respond to moderated or stressed environment. The physical and chemical changes of enzyme and turgor pressure of cell in this conversion play an important role in the enhancement of biomass and metabolites. Repeated turgor pressure (bas...

Cultivation of Isochrysis galbana in Phototrophic, Heterotrophic, and Mixotrophic Conditions

This study compared the growth and biomass production of Isochrysis galbana under hetero-, mixo-, and phototrophic conditions using different organic carbon sources. The growth of I. galbana was inhibited in heterotrophy but was enhanced in mixotrophy compared to that in phototrophy. Subsequently, the influences of organic carbon and environmental factors (light and salinity) on the growth of I...

Carotenoid Distribution in Living Cells of Haematococcus pluvialis (Chlorophyceae)

Haematococcus pluvialis is a freshwater unicellular green microalga belonging to the class Chlorophyceae and is of commercial interest for its ability to accumulate massive amounts of the red ketocarotenoid astaxanthin (3,3'-dihydroxy-β,β-carotene-4,4'-dione). Using confocal Raman microscopy and multivariate analysis, we demonstrate the ability to spectrally resolve resonance-enhanced Raman sig...

Growth of Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow in alternative media.

Current study investigates the effect of two alternative media NPK (20-5-20) fertilizer and NPK plus macrophyte (M+NPK) compared to the commercial medium (WC) under growth rate and physiological parameters in batch culture mode (2-L), and verifies whether the use of fertilizer (NPK) and macrophyte (Eichhornia crassipes) would be a good tool for Haematococcus pluvialis culture in the laboratory....

Photo Protection of Haematococcus pluvialis Algae by Astaxanthin: Unique Properties of Astaxanthin Deduced by EPR, Optical and Electrochemical Studies

Abstract The antioxidant astaxanthin is known to accumulate in Haematococcus pluvialis algae under unfavorable environmental conditions for normal cell growth. The accumulated astaxanthin functions as a protective agent against oxidative stress damage, and tolerance to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) is greater in astaxanthin-rich cells. The detailed mechanisms of protection have remain...
